The basic difference between military and civilian pistol is what
the military has adopted for their sidearm. Therefore, all the
principles of pistol marksmanship are the same, whether they are
law-enforcement certification, military or competition shooting.
The military shotgun is a little different animal in that they have
18-20 inch barrels, pump action and have different ways of loading and
shooting when compared to the way trap and skeet shooters shoot and
handle their guns. My daddy taught me to shoot quail and dove
when I was a boy and I still remember how to do that. However, when it
comes to shooting skeet and trap, I have more to learn than the
average shooter. This recognized, there are individuals at Styx River
indicating with much instruction and practice, they can make a decent
clay pigeon shooter out of me. We’ll see.
